The Stash Is Winning - Episode 9

Okay!  It’s a new year and I have a new enthusiasm for tackling the list.  To begin with we’re at 136 project bags, 47 of which have been started and are UFOs.             Easy one first: I got a quilt back from the long-armer recently and finally got it’s binding on.  Yay!  One UFO officially off the list!             Now, because I actually have a very short attention span, I move on to the most recent project next.  I had taken a workshop through the Guild and made 10 of the 36 blocks during the class.  Excited about my fabrics...

To start off with this time, I have a pile of 135 project bags, 46 of which have been started and are UFO’s.  Not long ago, I had the lofty goal of working my way down to less than 100 project bags.  Let’s just see how that’s going.                 To start, we take a trip to visit my parents in Michigan.  Not usually a good thing for my UFO list since mom and I almost always shop when we get together.  Luckily I was looking for border fabrics for a military outreach quilt.  This allows me to shop and buy...

So to recap from last time; I have 138 total projects on the list, 49 of which are started and therefore UFO’s.              In desperation to finish some quilts, I decide that I need some help.  Remember those five quilt tops from the guild retreat?  Well I quilt one and give it to a relative for her birthday and then start shipping the others, one at a time, to a longarm friend.  She quilts the next one while I’m binding the last one.  In this way, I actually manage to get three more quilts finished and off the list.  Also...

So my starting point this time is 140 quilts that I have all the materials for, 46 of which have been started.  And here we go.             There are bright spots to report this time:  there were two sets, of four placemats each, in the “bind me” pile that I make up pretty quickly.   And, um, well maybe there’s just the one bright spot.              The exciting thing is that my Guild’s spring retreat is coming up soon and I have secured my spot.  I love retreats!  No housework, no cooking, no reliable internet, no distractions of any kind.  Just...
